Unique Writing Sample for Prospective Clients

A first happened to me a few weeks ago. A small publisher, Kingfisher Press, was interested in me writing a book for them. I recently learned they chose someone else, but the experience of applying was valuable, nonetheless.

As part of the application process, Kingfisher Press asked me to submit a writing sample consisting of a mock table of contents and a single page of content. The book's proposed topic was social and emotional learning (SEL).
